Probably need to explain what records are to some of the audience.
But, you know, before Spotify, there used to be these disc things that you put on a player and they played music.
And before there were the hard disc things, there were these weird floppy discs.
And my father had Richard Burton reading Dylan Thomas on those discs.
Oh, that's amazing.
Rage, Rage Against the Dying of the Light, all of that.
So a hugely famous Welsh author, hugely famous Welsh actor.
So a bit of that was mixed in to our...
creative stuff our literary stuff at home but you know I was attracted to all the kind of stuff girls read back then I loved Nancy Drew novels you know a young girl going out and solving murder mysteries I liked Agatha Christie's and things like that
But I also, partly through school and just partly through the library, branched out particularly into U.S.
literature.
John Steinbeck, novels like that were hugely important to me.
The Grapes of Wrath.
And then over time, more and more into women writers.
Virginia Woolf was hugely important to me.
So, you know, that was the foundation stone.
Some world-class literature, some beach reading page turners.
