It's about one of Silicon Valley's most well-known companies, eBay, and how the management team ended up stalking, yes, stalking, a fairly innocent, non-famous couple living in small town, Massachusetts. voice-verified

Now, since the early 2000s, this couple, Ina and David Steiner, had been running an e-commerce publication called e-commerce bytes. voice-verified

And it's basically an industry publication for people selling things on e-commerce. voice-verified

eBay, and for various reasons they've been writing some negative press about the company. voice-verified

And in twenty nineteen, they started receiving abusive messages from what looked like an eBay seller. voice-verified

They sort of ignored them, and then mysterious packages started arriving on their doorstep, and voice-verified

And those packages contained some pretty spooky stuff. voice-verified

And that's where today's guest got involved. voice-verified

Sergeant Jason Sutherland is a police officer at Natick Police Station, Natick being the town where the Steiners live, and he's the one who followed this case all the way back to California to discover that it was a security team at eBay who had been stalking the couple. voice-verified

It is a very strange, twisted story, and as I say, regardless of the size of the corporation, I really think this most people in the world are just making it up as they go along. voice-verified
