It's not a quick fix.
It's not making you wealth overnight.
It's just...
a strategy to invest that adds a small tax benefit to it.
Yeah, look, super should never be ignored as part of your financial strategy.
The way that I personally view advice and when I give advice is that you just have goals and you have different financial means for different parts of your lifestyle, your timeframe.
Super is obviously putting money away for that longer term bucket, but it should definitely not be ignored or not considered.
So why do people use superannuation or why should you consider it as part of your overall strategy?
Ultimately, it's the most tax effective environment for you to be holding money in.
Is it the right idea for everyone to put money in though?
Well, that again...
depends on what your short and medium-term goals are.
If you're a young person, you've got surplus money available, you're already actively investing, why not consider putting a little portion of it away for that long-term nest egg?
Why not get a tax benefit for it?
And saying that, it's 15% tax, where the average person's paying 32 or 39, they're 47% in tax.
A huge savings for someone, and ultimately, your money's still being invested.
Change the landscape a bit if you're in the thick of it.
Your wife's on maternity leave, you've got two young kids, you've got a really big mortgage and you're planning for school fees for private school.
Should you be putting money into super right now?
Probably not, because you're not going to be able to touch it for 20, 30 years, age 60 at the moment.
