You know, at the same time.
you really have to hold that there's still nothing wrong with the person.
Fixing or curing implies that they're broken, that there's something really wrong with them.
And so, yeah, when it comes to sort of thinking through fixing or curing, like you don't want to eliminate the depression.
You know, I'm coming from a perspective where I'm trying to understand it, lean into it, listen to it, figure out what wisdom it has.
And it's more about armoring up their depression or unburdening it from whatever it's carrying so that it can kind of play nicely with the rest of the person's internal system rather than banishing it further.
So that's kind of how that cure-fix thing can be...
like is going to be with you forever or can it go away oh yeah it can definitely go away okay um it's not like a life sentence um it's it's something that yeah it can be cured and and and not just and not just people can get better and get back to normal
I don't want to oversell what psychologists can do, but I do believe that when people do their own work, they could be better than normal.
Like you can motivate people to do great things.
They can understand themselves better, be more self-compassionate, understand the world differently.
I really think that, yeah, you cannot just...
get better, but you can get like better, better.
That's really good to know.
It's hard.
I'm not saying it's like easy, like totally six sessions and like, whoop.
I'm constantly balancing hope and hope.
also their pain because if you're too hopeful and too jolly and Pollyanna-ing the kind of like, come on, let's pick you up, that can feel really invalidating.
But at the same time, yeah, you really want to hold that like this really could be different.
Yeah.
