There is nothing that is more important or less important than the next thing.

These things all work together.

And there are relationships happening out there that we don't even know about.

We couldn't possibly understand.

We won't have some of these species by the time I have grandchildren.

No, they didn't.

Thank God.

What tends to happen when you're doing an orchid reintroduction, if you've got all of the conditions are right, so you've selected the right sites, you've got pollinators present...

and you're planting back into good quality habitat, we tend to get a really good re-emergence rate for the first few years.

So for the first two years for that particular planting, I had a 98% success rate.

So 98% of those individuals came back in those first couple of years.

Nice.

And then what tends to happen is over time that'll reduce a little bit and we dropped down to about 72%.

Hmm.

Less nice.

And then that sort of plateaued at around that sort of number annually for a while.

We did have, so we're talking 10 years ago now, so obviously there was some drought times in amongst that and there was a little bit of loss due to those drier conditions.

But they have persisted and there are still plants present in those reintroductions, which I think for that particular site we planted, I think it was 380 over the course of two years back into those locations.

Yeah.

Annually, I go back and do a leaf emergence monitoring when the plants are putting up their leaf for the year.
