And we didn't have much.
We were three guys who didn't know anything without even an office or any resources, so we had to use what we could get.

You know, I did some research into campaigns.
You know, there are a lot of people fighting a lot of stuff.
There's a fight against mental illness.
There's a fight against waste.
There's a fight against bullying.
We didn't want to fight the government.
Governments have armies.
There were three of us.
And we were really clear always
in all our language, speaking to government representatives, writing letters, not to tell them that they were bad people if they didn't do what we said.
Because I just think it's really easy to do that and really emotionally satisfying.
But if I was a minister, that wouldn't get me on side.
So our key message was mistakes were made in the past, but not by any of us.
Our opportunity, federal government, ACT government, and us representing the victims, our opportunity is to work together to fix them.
And that, I believe, is far more effective than jumping up and down saying the government has to do this, the government has to do that.
They don't.
