Well, the head of Army Intelligence, my father's supervisor, was a man called Colonel Michael Heffernan.

And when the arms trial kicked off, originally Colonel Heffernan was part of the prosecution.

And Colonel Heffernan, when he found out what was going on and what the government wanted,

plan was, was very upset.

And I think there's a story about him going over to pray.

He was obviously a devout man.

He went over to the Capuchin Church there on Church Street and prayed for guidance.

And he was a very honest man, and he told the truth.

And he told the truth to an extent that...

He was, for the second trial, he was dropped as a witness for the prosecution because his evidence directly implicated the Department of Defense.

It subsequently came out that his evidence was, I don't like to use the word doctored, but I would say altered to take away, it's very mean.

Edited, yeah.

And it was to take away the very meaning because his statement referred to the Department of Defense, which made this a legal operation.

And by removing that line, suddenly it becomes a nefarious underhand operation.

He resigned from the army because it gave him a chance to actually speak.

In the army, there's rules.

And he was disappointed and he knew he had to speak up.

And I think that probably took the government a bit by surprise because I think they thought he would roll over and he would play ball.

And he couldn't stand over what was going on.
