So those four will definitely come back into the team.

Well, it wasn't a shock when he announced it because I sort of got wind of it early in the season.

And for it to even be an option, it surprised me, to be honest.

I feel like he's still got a lot of footy left.

But yeah, when he sort of said it, he left the door ajar a little bit and I thought I'd be able to sway him.

But if you know Switter, he's very considered with the way he thinks about his own career and what he wants as a person.

So once he sort of committed to that, there was no swaying him.

fully respect his call I've seen how much work he's had to put into getting his body right especially early in my time as coach and the diligence to everything he does towards his footy is first class so I can see why he's made that call and fully support it but

It was a bit surprising when he first mentioned it to us.

Yeah, I think that's fair.

And I think you're right.

We've been able to play our best footy against better teams.

We've embraced every challenge that's come our way.

But, you know, in the middle of the year, we had four six-day breaks in a row with travel and we managed to win all those games, which was just a super effort by the whole football department.

There's been a few of those things along the way that players have just embraced.

Probably what we didn't do overly well was just manage the last period of the season, which, you know, it's the first time we've been in that situation where we've been clear on top of the ladder and didn't probably bring the right intensity to each game.

But, yeah, we have been able to, I guess...

reflect on how we've played Hawthorne but also the other teams in the past and feel like our footy stacks up and just probably trying to be mindful this time of the year because you do have a little bit of time up your sleeve to scout teams and you've got to try and make sure that you don't give the players too much because as a coach you sort of pick up a lot of different things and as a coaching group there's a lot of ideas but the players probably need three or four really clear things going into a game rather than

10 different things.

We don't want them cluttered in their minds.
