Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Aston Martins, Jaguars, Land Rovers and Minis. I think I pretty much just described the Mar-a-Lago parking lot right there. But it really is a stunning thing. I want you to imagine for a moment that you're in the room with the president and the pollster says, we're having trouble selling these tariffs. People are worried about the distributional implications.

They're worried, of course, because these tariffs hurt working and middle-class Americans the most. And then the president says, I know how to fix that. Why don't we have a special tariff carve-out? Maybe we'll call it the Rolls-Royce carve-out for Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, Jaguars, Aston Martins, and Land Rovers. That will please the punters.

It was a misty and muddy derby following a day of constant rain showers, but nearly 150,000 people showed up to watch as Sovereignty and jockey Junior Alvarado took home the top prize. Sovereignty started the race at 9-1 odds. They win more than $3 million of the $5 million prize purse. It's trainer Bill Mott's second career derby win.

The morning line favorite, journalism, had a strong showing midway through the race, but fell behind in the final stretch to come in second. He was followed by Baeza in third place. For NPR News, I'm Justin Hicks.

I do want to point one thing out. At some point in the next couple of weeks, they're going to front the press and say, hey, we got a new trade deal with blank. It'll be some country. Pretty good chance it'll be Australia, actually. And they're going to say, look at this amazing trade deal we got with Australia. No tariffs with Australia.

We had very close to no tariffs with Europe, with every other major trading partner, with very few exceptions. So he's going to trot out and declare victory for giving us back the economy that we had in the days before April 2.
