I'm going, fuck, I'm glad mum's not alive.

But, you know, ultimately, I know that they, you know, they saw enough of my career and met Dan.

Mum was able to come to our wedding.

They saw enough of that to know that I was all right, you know, because I think mum was just pretty horrified, you know, because I worked in hospo.

I was, you know, working in clubs late at night.

You know, there was booze and all that shit, you know, and...

So I think she was really worried and, you know, mum and I didn't by any means have an easy relationship, you know, but she was the first person I called in 2003 when I won the Billy.

You know, even though we weren't talking that much then, you know, I rang her straight away and she was so proud, you know, and so, yeah, it was, you were just, I think sometimes you, as a woman, you grow up and you look at your mum as another woman, not as your mum, and you go, oh...

I don't think we would have gone on at school.

But we came to a really good place with each other before she passed away.

That makes me emotional.

I do think of Grandad, especially when I'm in those big theatres like the Theatre Royal and Christchurch and places in the South Island where he might have performed.

Like Nelson, I know he performed there and Temaru, the sound show and all that.

And so, you know, when I get to do those bits, I'm like, oh, I think of that granddad looked up at these, you know, these curtains and these, you know, because it's old as hell back there, you know.

Yeah, I really, I think he would have been.

He might have been a bit appalled at the content, but.

But how cool.
