And Marshall said he felt like he had known Bonnie forever, to the point that he felt that they had met in a past life.

And Bonnie told Marshall that their meeting had been revealed to her beforehand by extraterrestrials and that she had been receiving messages from them.

So this only further cemented Marshall's inner calling and demonstrated that Bonnie shared it with him.

And the two became inseparable, constantly discussing all sorts of spiritual matters, conventional and otherwise.

And despite the deep intimacy that the two shared intellectually and spiritually, their relationship was not a sexual one.

And this is important as it fulfilled Marshall's desire for that sexless devotion he was desperate for.

And Bonnie's daughter, Terry, would later say about the relationship, quote,

Their relationship wasn't like a romantic thing, more like a friendship, a platonic thing, unquote.

So he had finally found someone who understood and accepted him for who he truly was.

So prior to their meeting, Bonnie had met with some spiritualists who had told her that a man would soon come into her life.

And before she knew it, Marshall was there.

And she had actually written a story when she was younger about a man who dies and descends to heaven.

And when Marshall read the story, he was certain that it was actually written about him.

Ego complex, am I right?

And they quickly decided to fully join forces together in pursuit of their higher calling.

And to start, they cut off their remaining earthly ties in order to go all in.

So Bonnie's growing relationship with Marshall and her steadily more concerning spiritual ideas led her husband to file for divorce, eventually causing her to lose custody of her children in the process, which I think is for the best.

And Marshall, having already essentially lost his family, in his eyes anyway, cut the cord on what was left by permanently breaking contact with his ex-wife, his kids, and his siblings as well.
