And the fear was seen through members desperately avoiding anything that would disappoint him, resulting in being left behind at the time of ascension.
And according to former members, there was also an underlying threat that if you did decide to leave the group, you were forfeiting your spot on the spaceship and suffering for it.
And because of this, even when doubts began to surface, many members would decide to stay in the world that Doe and Tee built, and understandably so.
