Okay.

Um actually I s I started noticing while I was on duty

Um and they always stuck me on perimeter 'cause where are you going to put the I was the only female on the department, so where are you gonna put the female?

You're gonna put her on perimeter.

You're not gonna put her in the Congo line which is, you know, going in the door right in the middle of everything.

You're gonna stick her on perimeter, you know, where she can't

um get in the way.

And that's basically what happened.

I got pushed out to perimeter.

So I was always on the sidelines

And um I began to notice that if there were animals on scene

Um, even wildlife like the deer

uh they would often

give me clues and tell me where the bad guy was.

For instance, uh one of the first cases I remember doing where I actually tuned into the wildlife is there was a a DUI hit and run

And the guy bailed from his truck after he rolled it and smashed it into another vehicle and he took off running through a field and this is at night up in the mountains and there's no street lights, it's pitch black.

And we had kind of put up a perimeter in the area that we thought that the bad guy was

Well my sergeant and everybody else

um said, Okay, well we're gonna go search in this area to the left and Karen, you stay here
