But also people are thrown into situations where they have to learn a language and they didn't expect to have to learn that language.

Sometimes people have to, for example, leave their home country and go and make a home somewhere new.

And they never expected to learn the language of the country they ended up in because they didn't make a long-term plan.

They just had to go.

And those people can absolutely master the language of the new country.
