Yeah, some clinicians may right find the path of least resistance.
I'm really busy and I'm fine with it and I think it'll be fine.
And others others um have on occasion written some really not nice things in their text justification.
And right, exactly.
Social norms.
Right.
Most patients would or most clinicians would do that.
So all of those are um they don't restrict autonomy, but they are effective in in um certain certain cases.
So the Ponder ICU trial did use multiple nudges.
We just finished enrollment during um COVID you know, the height of COVID for that.
That used um accountable justification and it used a focusing effect um where we leveraged the
very natural tendency, especially for ICU clinicians, to be highly focused on specific things.
And instead of um only being focused on the mechanical ventilation parameters that day, we force them to focus on prognosis.
They don't have to share it.
They don't have to discuss it, but they have to think about it.
And we do that by just asking them about it.
You know, what's what do you think the likelihood this patient survives over the next six months?
And if they do survive, what do you think
their functional limitations may be from bedbound, you know, moribund to to totally fine.
And there was some really amazing work by Allison Turnbull at Hopkins and others that showed just having clinicians focus on prognosis and, you know, moving them out, taking the blinders off, if you will.
