And so we're starting to see some of that.

But but I think that the policies that are getting the most attention are these sort of.

just hard, cold, hard cash, right?

I saw a sign at McDonald's the other day, saw a sign at Taco Bell, you know, $1,000 bonus just to come in and get a job.

And of course, workers have to weigh that against, okay, how many more months of unemployment would I be eligible for?

And that's sort of the question for them.

Right.

A higher salary is a cost that's going to stay.

You can't just lure someone in with an offer of $20 an hour and tell them a couple months later, oh, I'm cutting your pay to $17 or $16.

I think that they're going for this idea of these one-time bonuses and perhaps seeing that

Sure, it's a big cost for them, but it's worth it because we've seen a lot of places that are saying, well, we can't even operate at full capacity.

We can't meet the demand right now that we're seeing as the economy heats up, as people are wanting to go out to eat more and travel.

We're hearing employers say, we're losing money, we're losing business because we don't have the staff.

It's worth it to pay, perhaps in their view, $1,000 to bring someone in, but they're not quite in a place where they want to be permanently offering higher wages, at least broadly.

I mean, we are seeing wages pick up somewhat.

But right, that's a tension right now in the labor market.
