So, you know, this is a woman in crisis in relation to the sea, isn't she?
And that they operate in the world in different ways.
I mean, in a sort of Shakespearean sense, he's a practical person.
He knows how to fix things.
He's very much of the earth.
And she's drawn to this, you know, moving fluid world and to watching the seals and to being aware of...
caverns at the end of the ocean.
But, you know, as Rowena said, it becomes strange and it's something that Chris Neen is very good at in their writing, which is drawing attention to the strange and making us think about the world in a slightly different way.
And the uncanny.
And some of that is being done because there had been other people.
I mean, there have been years and years of people working as caretakers on this island, which means they have left their notes and their journals behind because a number of times a day they have to go out to the weather station and measure things.
But also Miranda then realises that there are creatures that have been carved into the trees and these sort of scarecrows that have been made.
And at first she sort of jumps and thinks there's a person and then goes, oh, no, it's this creature that's been made and it seems beautiful.
And then she gets closer and there's sort of teeth and claws.
So it's something very uncanny there.
