Yeah, yeah.
She's living in the ocean.
I was birthed with a wave.
And I think how absolutely desperately lonely she must have been, you know, to be a young mother with no cafes, no other people, nowhere to connect and just โ
rave and whatever, cry, connect.
And I think what we miss and we are living in the longest city in the world, our sprawl is completely out of control and unchecked.
We then put roads in and all the gas and the water goes
in this hot, hot, hot desert-like new suburb and we put a chain childcare centre in there and then we put probably a petrol station and then we backfill with these boxy little homes, dark roofs and no eaves and, you know, it's just this... I think that's not a life, you know, but what we're selling is like you're going to have a beautiful house and a little tiny garden with astroturf and...
I think what we're missing is the community, the connection, because actually, you know, when we think of when you go to Europe, and this is a friend and I have been talking about this so much recently after a trip to Europe, we've got real Perth exceptionalism, like, well, apartments would be nice, but Perth people wouldn't live in them.
Oh, public transport is so nice when you use it, but Perth people wouldn't use it, you know.
And it's like somehow we've decided that we're different from everyone else in the world, whereas, of course, we're not.
but we've not been given those facilities.
We haven't got fantastic public surface.
We haven't got fantastic apartments, great examples of apartments or medium density living.
We don't have high streets.
The high streets we did have, which were built around the original tram system in WA, when the trams were taken out, they kind of lost that high streetness, but they are still the best parts of Perth now.
They're most interesting and dynamic.
And I think people are craving that.
They're craving the heart of seeing other people and not driving into your garage, straight into your kitchen, back into your car, into the office.
we don't have even front porches anymore you know the brand it's that you'd see your neighbors and see the kids hanging out in the streets we're straight into the house and i think actually we designed our community and now people are starting to go oh actually that was the thing that we that's humanity we're social creatures and we want to see other people you know and
