This beautiful vivid, vivid violet purple mauve, don't know what you call that lurid color.
With a characteristic pointed top.
It's called the pyramidal orchid, and it's a very dominant species in this meadow that we're looking at.

You're one of Ireland's commonest orchids and everybody sees these because they spring up anywhere that the ground is limey and sunny and well drained.

Now they don't in fact they don't always have spots.
Well apparently the Irish maggerline refers to uh many orchids um but actually it means a testicle.
