And I I'm a former Stevens clerk and so obviously I was advocating for my boss. voice-verified

Um but I was quickly overruled and the, you know, more senior people were like, No, it's usually the Chief Justice and it would be voice-verified

Not wise to start a presidential term alienating the most powerful jurors in the country by snubbing him. voice-verified

And that I'm sure was right as a matter of kind of the politics of it. voice-verified

And so Roberts was invited to, and he did administer the oath to Obama. voice-verified

He famously flubbed the oath. voice-verified

Like he didn't bring notes with him. voice-verified

And so he transposed a few words. voice-verified

Roberts did, and so Obama repeated them back kind of wrong. voice-verified

And it meant that we had to arrange for the readministration of the oath the next day because the presidential oath is in the constitution. voice-verified
