And it's even more remarkable, if you think back to 2019, to have heard that from him, when we also recall
At that point in the campaign, Justin Trudeau had not committed to net zero by 2050 yet.
So I guess that's all to say that I think the view of Alberta is more nuanced and complicated and not as straightforward as a lot of people think it is.
There's a lot in that question and I'm trying to decide where to start in answering it.
So let me just start with the idea of a referendum question because I think that's what everyone is wondering about.
And truthfully, people in this province are wondering about it as well.
What's going to happen there?
As you know, there was a court decision
that basically said the petition that was launched by Stay Free Alberta that collected, they say, over 300,000 signatures meant to trigger a referendum on separation, that it failed to meet the duty to consult
And therefore it was essentially dead in the water.
