These are for the second planting of the season, I imagine.
Bush beans, radishes, kale, turnips, and spinach.
They will have enough time to grow and produce before the frost comes.
I've been thinking of that idea a lot lately, actually, of a second planting.
You know, I was thinking about middle age.
That's where I currently am hanging out.
And how the only words we ever hear associated with middle age are pretty negative.
Right?
It's a crisis, a panic.
And I just can't relate to that.
And I realized
How I'm thinking of it.
I'm in the season of my second planting.
It's a great place to be.
I know now what flavors I like.
I know what grows best in my soil, what I will enjoy harvesting.
Some things have already fruited and died off and I have space in my garden to sow seeds for my second planting.
And even better news, I think most of us will be lucky enough for several more cycles of growth and clearing.
I know I beat this drum a lot, the joy of aging and all, but I don't intend to stop any time soon.
The space outside of the doors here, with its wide steps and sort of patio feel, hosts musicians too.
