There's still a little time left for us here on Oahu.

Winds are picking up.
Today is really the day that conditions will start deteriorating across Hawaii.
Up first for impacts is the big island, which is south of us.
They are under a hurricane warning there.
Here in Honolulu, we've been upgraded to a tropical storm warning.
So we really saw preparations ramping up yesterday between people who live here, people who are visiting, and of course the first responders trying to get ready for this too.

We know that the threat from Lala is growing here on Oahu because this morning here in Honolulu, we got added to a tropical storm watch.
So that's new for us.
And it means that tropical storm force winds are possible within or likely within the next 48 hours.
And that's what emergency crews especially are preparing for.

They were fueling generators and making sure that if they needed to deploy
They are ready.
Over on the big island is where we start to see that deterioration a bit sooner.
