The cognitive tax isn't just about the mental load for Lindsay, it's about all the things she's not doing for the larger economy because her brain and time are so tied up trying to save money.

Like it's like you are less good at doing your job because you have you're dealing with all this other stuff.

And this is why her email really stood out to us because you have a professor here putting so much mental energy and her analytical research skills towards questions like does it save money to bake bread versus buy it when you factor in electricity costs in the middle of the summer?
