When Rick emailed us, he wrote, quote, one underreported economic story is the number of older retired people that are living very good economic lives in.
If you have money in there, I mean the stock market over the past several years is on an incredible historic streak.
It is just up, up, up, up, up, up, up.
And if you're retired, like Rick, that's probably where your money is.
IRAs, individual retirement accounts, 401ks, Rick has some of that.
But also he has a pension.
too actually.
So you have pensions for the rest of your life from both states?
Rick says there are some trade offs to working in public service jobs.
It's not a path to riches necessarily, but he says it is a path to security.
The standard investing advice has always been to put money into a retirement account as early as possible and choose risky investments in the stock market when you're still years away from retirement, then less risky investments like treasuries when retirement is around the corner.
And that is what Rick did.
So
Rick feels a lot of guilt over this actually because he says what he was able to do in his thirties, he doesn't think people in their thirties today can do.
