It was the Sunday after the inauguration around 10 o'clock in the morning when we had begun to receive calls from members further down on South Broad Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey, that ICE was knocking doors and entering businesses.
I remember when I got to South Broad, it was a ghost town.
The bodega was closed.
The T-Mobile was closed.
The bakery was closed.
