So, for example, I write a letter to my one of my brothers in the book.

I don't tell their story very often, but this brother has been in prison a lot and his life is ruined from the crimes he's been involved in.

And he's in addiction.

But in 1999, both of us asked for help.

My brother was in prison at the time and he went and asked for help.

I went down to a community worker in Shaw-McDermott Street and asked for help.

I was in counselling within a week of that.

I was given free education opportunities.

not given any help um i think one of the key differences between our outcomes is that i was a met with an abundance of opportunity when i actually asked for help and he wasn't and some people will only ever ask for once for help i believe we're all born destined to grow towards the light and we all potentially can be what i am

It's just whether we get the conditions to be able to do them things.

And I got the conditions and he didn't and he hasn't.

And I don't know if he will now because it's gone so far.

And when you go so far into criminal behaviour and to the prison system, it just gets really, really difficult to escape it.

It becomes a life and...

But potentially we're all the same.

Like if you'd have met us all when we were like between the ages of three and ten, you would have loved us all.

We were all deadly.

We all could dance and sing and articulate ourselves.

My sister was quite quiet now.
