Yeah, and uh you know, it definitely does feel like once you get on the hamster wheel, you're not gonna be able to get off.

Uh the executive director of advocacy group Protect Borrowers told the Financial Times, quote, If you don't have money to pay rent today, it's not likely you'll have money to pay rent later.

And it feels like you're getting on the hamster wheel and you won't be able to get off.

So I mean, it'll take probably a few more months to actually see what the impact is of this.

Um, but I'm not super hopeful.

Yeah, the Canadian Prime Minister Kearney said, quote, the talks are very delicate and intense.

So that feels a little bit euphemistic, but we'll we'll see what actually happens in a few days.

Um, the tariffs that were paused would be the first use of section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930.

The first use, and it's been almost a hundred years since it's been enacted.

Um, this actually allows the White House to impose up to 50% tariffs for any nation placing unfair

Or unequal rules on the US versus other countries.

And unlike more modern trade rules, uh the president can enact these tariffs without hearings or investigations.

So it is interesting if this doesn't go through, does that set a precedent for future tariffs as well?

Yeah, I mean, if you've ever stuck to your guns a little longer than you uh expected, and before finally admitting you are wrong, you know exactly how American Airlines feels.

They initially took these screens off planes in 2017.

Uh, since the screens added weight to the planes, they broke down often and they required maintenance, making them pretty costly, both in the fuel costs it takes to actually travel with all those extra screens, and also in making sure that they're, you know,

properly maintained.

Uh but I saw on on on X uh this morning that uh someone pointed out that in twenty seventeen American Airlines also said, we are never going to be unprofitable ever again, which uh probably wasn't the right move to make there.

Honestly, that's so hopeful and nice.

I mean, it's it's crazy.
