The fact that the Blue Jays are still in a wild card conversation right now kind of speaks to how poor the rest of this league is.
But I don't think that should be viewed as any sort of accomplishment.
I mean, my God, the wild card is not the goal.
It cannot be the goal.
When you are spending this much, when you're a market this big, and when you have expectations like the Blue Jays, sneaking in with a wild card seed is not a success whatsoever.
Winning the division is a success, and we saw last year what that did for this team.
But I keep waiting for that time, oh, when this is going to turn, and every other team is waiting for that magic, too.
The Blue Jays need to do something differently.
Even look back to last week, guys, when we were talking when the Blue Jays were in New York,
Yes, they had a couple of big wins, but we're talking 2-0, 2-1, 3-0 wins.
Until this offense really changes, I'm not going to change my mind about where the Blue Jays are headed right now, which is kind of in this same stuck-in-the-middle direction.
The offense needs to change for that to get better.
The pitching staff, for all the injuries they've had, has been really good.
I'm really impressed by them, especially Savage, Gosman.
Cease will be fine.
That's just a couple weeks, I think.
But the offense needs to do something.
The offense needs to wake up and spark this team.
It just doesn't feel like there's a life or a momentum or a direction to this right now.
It's two steps forward, two back, three forward, three back, and they're hovering below .500, which is not a fun place to be as we're just about to be talking about June baseball, guys.
