We definitely hadn't as much grass, but then we were a little bit understocked, so that didn't pose a problem in the first year.
So it gave us time to see what we were capable of producing without synthetic fertiliser.
There's 12 cows, 12 calves.
We've assisted two or three altogether, like, you know, so most of them we find calved in the morning.
Stress is what we try to cut out in man and beast as much as we can.
So no dehorning, no castrating is a big part of cutting down on stress and stressing on the person as well because it's not a nice task for anyone.
We need a lot of straw.
But then we think of it as value as well for dung, like, you know.
Between that and clover, they're the two things we rely on for fertilizer, like, you know.
When I was brought up, we had to work from eight to six, and if you didn't do that, you weren't working hard.
But now it's changed for me anyway.
We do what we have to do, and the rest of the time then is up to ourselves.
We can go to matches or we can take time out.
