He was charged with directing an organised crime gang, and that's an offence that can carry a maximum sentence of life in prison, along with a spate of a load of other very serious charges, including drug dealing, damage to property, multiple counts of money laundering, various threats to a number of different people, both male and female, in North Dublin.

And all these offences...

really stem from a short enough period between 2023 and 2024.

So he really was a bit of an enigma, but I suppose we did find, you know, we have found out a little bit more about him since his appearance in Special Criminal Court in February.

Yeah, and obviously, you know, maybe before they kind of came to our attention, you're going back around 2016 or that, and Glenn Ward, who at the time in Finglas, who we nicknamed Mr. Flashy, he was the first of kind of these associates to kind of come to prominence.

But in relation to Mr. Salmon, he was particularly close to Sean Little, but also Zach Parker.

And they were two very young men in their very early 20s who were murdered four months apart, one in January 2019, that was Zack Parker in Swords, and Sean Little then was killed and shot dead as well in Balbriggan in May of that year, so four months apart.

Salmon would have been an associate of those guys, particularly Little, he would have actually known him from childhood.

They lived on the same road.

He's a bit older.

Salmon is now 32 years of age.

Little if he'd lived, he'd be hitting 30 now.

So Salmon is a bit older.

But back in those days, Niall, we in the Sunday World as well and the Herald in those times and the Indo, there wouldn't rarely, you know, every week there'd be a couple of stories in relation to what was going on.

It was a very chaotic situation.

So we looked at him in a very kind of deep way.

And one name that never came up in those times was Mark Salmon, who's pleaded guilty to these very serious charges.
