And so that was when things started to look bad for living there.
There was just so much violence and drama.

What did being a publican mean for him and alcohol?
He probably drank more.
He was constantly drinking then at the pub.
And that was another issue, you know.
He, again, he would, there'd be a fight in the bar, he'd jump across the bar, throw them out.
You know, he was a very big, strong man.
So I never really saw him, I never saw anyone actually beat him up or have a fight.
He would just drag people out and throw them out.
But he was drinking fairly heavily at that point, which, you know, in hindsight was not good for his health.
You would also help out getting some of these ringers and cowboys back home on the weekend.
What was your job with that?
So I learned to drive very young.
I was probably driving around 11 years old.
I learned to drive a car.
And Dad gave me this international small truck, like a utility, as my own vehicle to drive whenever I liked.
So I drove this everywhere.
