What sort of goods?
Yeah, in 91, the counterfeiting of clothes and footwear exploded.
You know, all these brands like Reebok and Puma and Adidas, Billabong, of course, Surfy Brands, Rip Curl, all these brands were being ripped off at the markets.
They were mainly Chinese groups that...
were into sweatshops and they were master counterfeiters.
The Chinese were good at copying anything.
So they started infiltrating all the markets, all the Sunday markets, Saturday markets, Paddy's markets around the country with all these counterfeit clothes and footwear.
So there was a group that formed called the Anti-Counterfeiting Action Group, the ACAG.
And I was one of the founding investigators with another investigator named Ken Taylor, another Ken,
And he was the principal investigator and I was one of Ken's assistants.
And so we went around markets and we started staking out all these Chinese counterfeiters and started building up all this evidence.
And that was when I was first exposed to...
preparing evidence for police because we would get them arrested.
We would raid their premises.
Because were these goods being made, manufactured in Australia or imported from overseas?
Yeah, they were being made.
One place we raided was in Far Street, Marrickville, in an industrial area there.
They were making it upstairs.
We had to scale a building to take a photo of the counterfeiting operation.
So they were making it here in Australia using screen printing, the old screen printing method, and it was very successful.
