Hey, yeah, never a headline you love to hear, huh?
Okay, so the Trump administration has prioritized in a way that no other administration, certainly in living memory, maybe ever, has prioritized domestic terrorism as a concern.
So the White House's counterterrorism czar, Sebastian Gorka, a couple months ago released the National Counterterrorism Strategy, and in it, it identifies three top priorities.
The first one isn't unsurprising.
It's jihadi groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda, ISIS,
that kind of thing.
The second one is narco, uh, narco traffickers, which is obviously a Trump administration focus.
But the third one is the one that, that is really eyebrow raising, which is, um, political terrorism.
And they explicitly identify the left.
And over the course of my reporting in the past couple of years, uh, I've seen particularly since the murder of Charlie Kirk, the administration and the treasury secretary, Scott Besson is on record saying this, that that was a nine 11 event, nine 11 type event, uh,
And they responded to it in much the same way the Bush administration responded in 9-11, which is to redesign the architecture of the federal national security apparatus and to point it at these left-wing groups, anti-ICE protesters.
We just saw an extraordinary set of sentences handed down literally half a millennium of years ago.
In prison for people with the sole exception of the one person who shot somebody who obviously should, you know, face a long prison sentence for that shot a nice officer.
I think it was the rest of them were given these just completely crazy sentences of like 30 years for moving left wing literature that was said to be obstructing justice related to the case.
So a frustration of mine while reporting on this stuff has been seeing the mainstream media concede that, yes, this is true, but like, you know, it's just Trump rhetoric.
What are they going to do?
There's no domestic terrorism law.
It's all a bunch of just, you know, symbolic talk.
No, they're serious about this and they're implementing it.
And we've seen cases where they've not just arrested and detained people, but now sentenced them very stiff sentences.
