One was...

I was incredibly unhealthy.

And I lived in a boarding school.

We were doing 3 a.m.

ramen.

I was super chubby and very unhealthy and realized that, hey, if I keep going down this path, there's no going back, essentially.

And, you know, definitely walking myself into a spiral that I did not want to show up in.

And the second piece, I genuinely thought, you know, if I did something so crazy that the American colleges would pay attention.

And so I was like, OK, this is sort of, you know, two birds, one stone.

Let's go do this crazy thing.

And so the only bike ride I'd ever done before that was like a 50 miler two weekends prior to the trip starting.

I did not anticipate how much physical demand it was going to take.

Obviously, you know, I was in the gym and it was working out and really trying to get healthy before this trip started.

But I didn't quite anticipate how crazy of a physical feat it was going to be, as you'd expect.

Naive persistence is key.

I really just decided to do it.

The whole journey was from Turkey to China.

And funnily enough, day two, I started to feel it.

First day, I ran on adrenaline, maybe biked 80, 90 miles.
