That's just part of it, you know.
Hearing stuff from public and I even remember my dad getting into like a few verbal arguments sitting in the crowd, you know.
Yeah.
So, yeah, I think the best way that I got through that was just making sure throughout my time as an All Black, it was always my family and close friends.
They were always the influence.
And as long as I had them around me, I could handle the good times and the bad times, if that makes sense.
They were always my strength and puller.
Probably one of the challenges that became an opportunity for me was in 2002 when I missed out on a Super Rugby contract.
And our wife was expecting our son and we were in the process of building a house, you know, but it was unfinished.
And I got a call to say that I wasn't going to be selected.
So here I was just...
thinking to myself, how was I going to provide for our family?
Yeah.
Yeah, and within a couple of hours, that opportunity had come along.
The Chiefs reached out to me and said, you know, we'd love if you'd want to come down and play for the Chiefs.
And, yeah, I spent that year working my butt off and realising, you know, I probably spent the last couple of years comfortable, you know, happy to be there.
I played for the Blues, you know?
So what turned out to be a really hard time ended up being a real opportunity for me to, for my career to go like this.
Realise if you want to be here, you've got to contribute.
You've got to be better than just making up the numbers.
