Playing in a baseball game and got picked up by one of my buddies' moms, like carpool, get to the game and like didn't have a snack or anything, so I told my mom, like, hey, could you pick me up something on the way?
My mom picks up hostess donuts, the little mini powdered donuts.
Well I pitched that day.
And up to that point, that was like the best pitching performance I ever had in my life.
I'm very superstitious, so and that day I ate three donuts in between every inning.
My next game, like, did it, and I did it all the way through high school, all the way through college at LSU, and tried to do it in the pros in the minor leagues.
And Brady Anderson, who was kind of one of our head honchos with the Orioles, was kind of like you can't do this if you're gonna pitch every five days.
Like once a week is doable, but you know, you're only getting
older he kind of shut that down pretty quick when I got to the big leagues.
So I made my debut in Toronto.
Well like Toronto obviously different country than the states.
Like there's no hostess.
So they had to find a tasty cakes which is like a different brand.
And then in college there was like a story my freshman year on it because my first game there's a a you know bag of powdered donuts next to me and then I'm pitching really well and they do a story and you
Know LSU fans are crazy, so it got to the point where I had like 10 different people on every Friday night bringing me bags of powdered donuts.
So I'm you know, I'm in college, so I'm taking them all home, like giving them my roommates, you know, we're loving it.
Um but yeah, it's kind of crazy that it lasted as long as it did, and looking back, it's nuts that I was actually doing that, but it was just I thought it worked, so I just
Kept doing it.
