He was hitting 96-98 in his live batting practice on Friday, and he was all over the place.
He was not happy with it.
And one person said to me, yeah, there's a guy who went out there and tried to make up for a year in 15 pitches.
And it certainly looked that way, but that Jared Jones felt good, uh, that he was not happy about it is one thing.
It tells you a little bit about his competitiveness, but that he felt good coming out of it, that there's no problems after that, that he didn't throw too hard and re-injure himself, I think was a good sign.
And, um,
I don't know if the Pirates are going to rush him back.
When you have a guy like that who throws as hard as he does and is coming off an arm injury, do you want to put him out there and test the durability of that arm, or do you want to put him out there in a situation where you have him throw one or two innings and say, hey, go out there and just go out and get some punch-outs and get us some outs?
and we'll build you up naturally.
So it's a matter of whether they want to build him up to six innings in the minors or whether they want to have him come up and build up in the majors like they did with some of their other guys in the last year when they did that with Chandler and Ashcraft and Majinski, where they start them in the bullpen, get them some short relief and some long relief, and then move them into a starting position.
That's the way it seems to be under Ben Charrington is how they've built up the pitchers.
I think Tamar's probably ticketed for spending the season at AAA.
This could be a year we see him make his debut.
He's 21 going on 22, I believe, or 22 going on 23.
He might be 22 going on 23, but he's still very young.
Tamar hit a triple the other day and showed some speed on the base pass.
He looks like
You know, he's very muscular, but he looks like he's a little leaner this year than he was last year.
He said he did some Pilates in the offseason.
So I think some of these guys start to realize the value of, you know, the year-round conditioning and nutrition that goes into it.
