And I wrote that because, you know, I think working with so many people at the journal and being raised in a family that read the journal day after day, you know, I think I had some good qualities financially instilled in me.
But at the same time, when I was looking back through my bank statements, there were certain purchases on there that were questionable.
Yeah, absolutely.
And those are the things that really consume my time day in and day out is thinking about how I can maximize my paycheck and make sure in the back of my mind that I'm preparing financially for the long term future.
But in the short term, figuring out how I can spend my money and how I can, you know, make smart decisions while also still enjoying myself.
I think that's the balance that I've been trying to strike.
And I'm sure a lot of people around me are trying to strike as well.
Yeah, well, spending apps and also really any app that handles our money, things like Uber and Lyft and Google.
As I was going through those transactions that I'd made, I found that besides rent and even utilities to an extent, most of the money I was spending was, especially if it was in a social situation, was through a payment app and sending money to my friends versus actually charging a purchase to a car.
Yeah, absolutely.
Venmo, Zelle, Uber, Lyft, any of these apps that really handle money.
I think that, as I say in the column, smart financial advice and a lot of the stuff that I read in preparation for this column transcends age.
And I think that there's a lot of wisdom that can be passed down.
But when you get down into the granular details of it, figuring out what you can do in your 20s, again, to maximize your long-term and short-term financial planning strategies, I think...
Figuring out exactly where I fit in in that process was a learning experience, and I'm hoping that the column itself can be pretty interactive, and so I can get advice as well as walk people through some of the thought processes that I've had dealing with money issues up to this point.
Thanks so much for having me.
