But then luckily in my adulthood, you know, in my twenties, my fandom for baseball came back and I really embraced it.
And then beyond that, I've sort of been hosting these baseball games and playing these sort of, we call them sandlot leagues around the country, which have been really fun.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
There's this guy, Jack Sanders, who runs this team called the Texas Playboys.
And they have this really amazing sort of like field of dreams lot or diamond rather where it's, you know, these homemade scoreboards and there's like children changing the score and there's someone selling empanadas and they
sell beer and people are selling like vintage clothes and homemade goods and trinkets and it's just really really mind blowing and so a couple years ago they had me come be like an honorary player and now they have me assemble my own team and you know like Jack White from the White Stripes has his own team he'll go down there and play these guys and like there's just this whole like sort of little universe they have of these these Sandlot teams it's really really fun and then that sort of turned into the Newport Folk Festival had me host a softball game
which was also really fun with a bunch of other, you know, I guess, folk artists.
But, yeah, it's kind of become this thing that, like, in my 30s, I'm like this baseball indie rock guy.
It's great.
This year, I still think they beat us, but I don't think they beat us as bad.
Nice.
But, you know, the first thing, because I was pitching, and I pitched the first two innings, and the first inning I gave up like five runs or something.
And I don't know if you know the musician Ben Queller, but Ben was the first person I was pitching to who was like one of my heroes when I was in high school.
So it was this funny thing where I was like pitching to an old hero.
And, I mean, he's still a hero, but β
uh i i got him down i the the count was like oh and two and i was like oh my god i'm gonna strike out my high school hero and then he just like hit a dinger off of me but uh but um
And then I gave up five runs.
But the second inning, I gave up no runs.
It was three up, three down.
