How you are as a match play player matters to how you are as a golfer.
Like Tiger Woods, it mattered when he was in the USAM and the junior AM.
It mattered to Walter Hagen when he was winning all those PGH ham chips.
Like, if you truly want to test yourself and measure yourself as a golfer, then you absolutely need to sort of show that you can win at match play.
And it's because Andy, we've talked about this a bunch.
Most of the format that people, regular people play is match play.
You go out with your buddies, you're essentially playing like a Ryder Cup style match or you're playing one on one with that person.
I think that if we could sort of reset the narrative in some ways of like, hey, like, yeah, match play is volatile.
And a good player is able to overcome that volatility and prove like I can win a match play tournament.
Not just, oh, it's so random.
Who oh, gosh golly.
No, like.
Prove your metal and show that you're good at match play.
Andy I was talking to Speeth earlier this year, he made that exact point.
He was like, I don't think you guys really grasp how good Scotty is because like he's, you know, smart enough to play really safe.
He's like in practice rounds, we're never like worried about getting up and down.
Like, you know, and so he's going at every flag, and the ball doesn't ever leave the flag.
Like when Scotty is in full, like you are you would be shocked at how good he is, like.
in practice rounds.
And I think that's a leads right towards that point.
