But I was very headstrong.

I think I sort of stuffed it up a bit because I probably should have timed it better and worked with other people.

Like my manager at the time was saying, he's like, you know, you've got the heat on you now.

You should be putting music out now.

And I was like, no, no, I want to do it all myself.

I'm going to wait.

I'm going to learn it all myself.

But then that...

Didn't align as well as it should have, but I did learn it myself in the end, even though it took, I reckon, easy 10 years to get anywhere near good enough.

And to be honest, I stuffed around for ages and I was – I think after breaks died off, I started getting a little bit like –

insecure or full of self-doubt and sort of jumping on the bandwagons because i was like oh i should be doing more electro house i should be doing a bit of dubstep i wasn't really just doing my thing um a because there wasn't anywhere really to do my thing and b because i was just like getting a bit desperate um and i think it got to my 20th anniversary of djing and i was like all right do i celebrate this so i make noise about it or do i keep trying to be the guy who's constantly reinventing and staying cool and contemporary

And I was like, I'm going to just celebrate it.

So I went with the 20-year anniversary.

I celebrated it.

Started getting back into doing more sort of straight-up breaks.

And then that fit into my production where I was like, you know what, I'm going to stop thinking too much about this music that I'm writing because I wasn't playing any of the stuff I was writing in the studio because I was trying to write stuff that I thought people wanted to hear or other DJs might play and I never played any of it.

I'm just going to write stuff that I would play in my sets and that's it.

I don't care about anybody else.

Fast forward five years or 10 years and now my entire sets is basically my own productions, whether it's like re-edits or originals or remixes, it's like all my own stuff.

It's taken quite a while to get there, but that's what I do now.
