She would have dropped to the ground.

And then, with her already down there, a final shot to her head.

Three rounds, all from a 9mm pistol.

But it was actually two smaller findings that told investigators the most about her last moments.

The first, there was gunpowder residue on Jade's hand.

her hand had been reaching out towards the gun, towards the person holding it the instant before the end of her life to shield herself.

Now, a person doesn't do that when someone's firing from a distance.

A person does that when the gun is right there close up, when they're looking at the person who's about to do this, and that is just terrible.

And the second is

There were no ligature marks.

There was nothing around her wrists or ankles to show that she had been restrained in any way.

But there were small defensive wounds on her fingers, on her wrists, and on her arms.

She hadn't been bound, but she had struggled in some manner.

Whatever happened to her in that car that took her out to that field, Jade did not go quietly.

And the people who knew her would have told you that she wouldn't have.

Remember, she was feisty, but sadly, she was no match for someone holding a gun.

And this bullet pattern is known as the failure to stop drill.

And I had no idea about this at all.

But it's the theory that if you fire twice at someone's torso and finish by shooting someone in the head, which is a harder shot to make, since it's a smaller target that could be moving around, it'll be easier to kill them.

Most special forces used to be trained on this in the 70s and 80s, and it also appears in a lot of action movies.
