She's an incredible writer.
She just writes with such clarity and it captures the complexity of those early relationships that you have and those secret spaces and she just sort of evokes this little private universe.
I mean, that's what I mean.
I just had such an emotional engagement with that book.
In terms of academic writing, I really, I was being very careful to make, I wanted the book to be accessible and I also wanted the critical component to be accessible too.
I'm hoping to get that published separately.
And so, yeah, my reading was still, it was, you know, based around memoirs and music and fiction.
Yes, I also read a lot of books about Nick Cave.
There's one called A Little History, Nick Cave and Cohorts, 1981 to 2013 by Bledin Butcher.
And he's a photographer who has been photographing Nick for all that time.
So that's an incredible book.
I'm a very visual researcher, so I looked at a lot of photographs and videos.
And Nick himself has also done a book called Stories.
And he's got a lovely quote in it at the beginning, which links into Patti Smith's book where he says, what can I say?
I have a thing about things.
Some people, you know, they don't have a thing about nothing.
And it basically is photographs of all the things that he's collected over the years.
And it's really, really beautiful.
