And there was this huge democratic deficit, which was what both
John Smith and Blair understood there was the democratic deficit.

And I can remember at the funeral, I mean, which was so desperately sad, but I have to say that people were looking at Blair and they were looking at Brown and they were looking at Mandelson in the church.
But there was no problem.
It was quite smooth is what I'm saying.
Yeah, for sure.
Actually, what happened in the run-up to the election was that even journalists, and perhaps more print journalists, became to be quite enthralled to Blair, enthralled to New Labour, the excitement of it all.
That whole fairy dust of endorsements, the fact that Sun backed Blair, remember?
You've got to remember what was happening there.
