Commissioned through the San Jose State Stanford University Air Force ROTC program on June 23, 2014, Major Dee completed pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base and was selected to fly the B-52H Stratoforsterus.
After completing B-52 formal training at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, he was assigned to the 23rd Bomb Squadron in the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota.
From February 2017 through May 2023, Major Dee served as a B-52 pilot, weapons and tactics officer, wing data link manager, and instructor pilot for the 5th Operation Support Squadron.
During his time at Minot, he deployed to Guam in 2019 and took part in operations supporting the United States withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
His leadership significantly enhanced the B-52's tactical data link capabilities and combat readiness across the wing.
Major Dee then went on to earn a Master of Science in Flight Test Engineering from the prestigious U.S.
Air Force Test Pilot School in 2024 and was assigned to the 419th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
There he served as a B-52 test evaluator pilot, chief of B-52 test, and chief of training.
His work was instrumental in modernizing the B-52 fleet, including leading the first flight of a new radar system and accelerating certification of critical data link and breaking system upgrades that will support the B-52 for decades to come.
A command pilot with more than 1,800 total flight hours, including 326 combat hours, Major D flew for more than 30 different aircraft throughout his career.
His military decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster and Space Achievement Medal.

His colleagues remember him as an exceptional leader, brilliant aviator, trusted mentor, and friend who set the standard for professionalism and excellence.
He died, along with seven others, on June 15, 2026, when the B-52H they were testing suffered a tragic accident
on takeoff at Edwards Air Force Base in California investigation.
Their loss is significant to the US Air Force B-52 program.
He is survived by his wife, Ashley, and three children, Beverly, Eleanor, and Corbin, as well as his parents, Leslie D., Jeffries, and Mike D., and several brothers and sisters, nieces, and nephews.
