My name is Jaime Arteaga, and I'm with the North Coast Carpetage Union.
Right now here in Cupertino, the former Valcom Mall is being transferred into the Rise.
This massive project moving forward using Senate Bill SB 35, a state law that fast-tracks developments.
But SB 35 is a two-way street.
These are not options, they are the law.
On this project, this massive project, compliance cannot be left to chance.
That is why the North Coast States Carpenters Union is officially calling for an immediate meeting with the developers, prime contractors, and the city officials.
We need to sit down at the table to ensure there are clear, ironclad tracking mechanisms in place before the major construction hits full stride.
Let this be a reminder to every stakeholder, the stakes here are incredibly high.
Failing to meet the state labor standards does not just mean minor paperwork errors, it triggers severe consequences.
We are talking about state labor laws violations that carry civil penalties up to $10,000 per month.
for each noncompliant subcontractor on this site.
Worse, willful violations can lead to freezing payments, the loss of building permits, and the total shutdown of the project.
Nobody wants to see this project stalled by avoidable legal battles, massive state fines.
We want the rights to succeed, but it must be built right, safely, entirely by the book,
