really uh commit yourself to work and outperform your fellow employees.
A lot of young Chinese especially feel like they are trapped in a red race.
They don't see hope in their future.
They feel like even though uh they have been studying really hard, you know, outdoing their classmates, that does not necessarily guarantee them a good job.
And this has become especially a dominant sentiment given China's economic slowdown and high youth and unemployment rates, uh, which is why.
When people read about the kind of uh
desperation and hopes that Wang writes about it has particularly resonated with them.
