Look, I always think this, if you've got a 26-man squad and you end up playing players out of position, you're doing something wrong.
Like, what are you doing?
And I understand there might be a drop-off and you think, okay, we want to get our best 11 players on the field, but I've never liked the ability to shoehorn somebody into a position that they're not familiar with at the biggest moment of their career.
I don't care how talented you are, you're going to get a bit of a drop-off at that moment.
And particularly in such a structured element of what Jesse Marsh expects in each position, yes, you might get a drop-off with that specific talent from that play, and you're like, ooh, do we really want him in the team?
But I think taking somebody out of their other position to put him in there, then you start messing around with lots of different positions.
Or maybe he was a calculated decision.
But he left out his most informed striker in Canada's biggest ever game.
And that's the facts.
And in the end, he came on and got the goal.
It does look bad, yeah.
And in the end, he rescued him.
So it comes down to this.
And you guys have got great experience about this.
We've all dealt with these coaches.
They have ideas.
They have egos.
They have decisions.
He, for this moment, I'm pretty sure he will never admit that he made a mistake because he was like, well, you know, look, Tani played great.
