So there was just some stats that was just released over the past week by this uh independent think tank called Asia House and what they basically found is that the trade flows between China and the Gulf have actually surpassed that between the Gulf and the West for the first time and that was for the year twenty twenty four.
Obviously, you know, the relationship between China and Gulf is still
relatively new, at least when you compare it to the West.
And historically, you know, the Gulf West, you know, relationship has been a very long-standing one, especially in the area of oil and gas.
But um, you know, in the last few years, you can see pretty evidently from the headlines, from you know what MBS has been doing to, you know, China really sending a lot of their overcapacity, whether in areas like construction, real estate, you know, they're helping Saudi Arabia, UA
E and be able to, you know, build some of these, you know, fulfill some of these like bigger projects that they want to do, export a lot of their technology, whether in AI or EVs, into Saudi Arabia, um, in in order to help them fulfill their, you know, economic reforms and diversification away from, you know, the standard oil and gas thesis that they've been trying to to do to to do for a really long time.
So so yeah.
So obviously, you know, this is something that's going to grow and um I think it's a very exciting development.
I'm sure we can spend a lot more time talking about that today.

I mean I think largely because the relationship itself is so new.
Right.
I think the West has definitely had a lot more exposure to the Gulf compared to China.
You know, like I think before we started the the the podcast.
I mean, if you just go back in history, you know, the Americans and the Brits have been in the Gulf for a really, really long time.
Like we're talking decades, you know, even before the founding of modern day UAE and Saudi Arabia, they were already there.
They they were the first ones to
basically, you know, quote unquote, help them develop uh oil and gas when they discovered oil and gas reserves.
You know, this was probably back in the 1950s.
So, you know, obviously it's been a longstanding relationship and you know there's a lot of geopolitics that goes on with that as well, right?
